This site and the privilege of sharing the word on the net
is a major blessing to me especially when you consider that only a year
ago I had never used a pc. But I have been obedient to the Lord, and been
taught, and now have this blessing bestowed upon me . Thank you Lord.

God bless all of you. The subject we will be looking at today is the very
foundation of the gospel, and should be the main focal point for every Christian.
It is of course "LOVE". Love is what the gospel is about, so we should always
keep our eyes fixed on it. The Love of God has touched men throughout the
ages so much so that they can not stop writing about it and indeed Gods
love is unfathomable, so this teaching today will only be able to just scratch
the surface on this subject.
John 3 vs. 16 " For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life."
This is the most well known verse
in the bible and I praise God for that, because if we know nothing else
we should know that God loves us. Lets have a feast on the following scriptures
that teach on Gods love.
Romans 5 v 7 10 " Very rarely will anyone die
for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to
die. But God commanded his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we
shall be saved from wrath through him. For if when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of his son, much more, being reconciled,
we shall be saved by his life."
Would you take the place of some guilty
person on death row? I know I would struggle to do it, but Jesus did, and
that person was you and I. Oh what love. Lets see God's love in action.
John 8 vs. 3 11 the teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in
a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said
to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the
law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" they were
using this question as a trap in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
When they kept questioning him, he straightened up and said to them " if
any one of you is without sin, let him cast the first stone." Again he stooped
down and wrote on the ground. At this, those that heard began to go away
one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left with the
woman, still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her "Woman
where are your accusers, has no one condemned you?" "No one Sir" she replied.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared, "Go now and leave your
life of sin."
What was the motivation for the Lords action here? It was
love! Can you see this? This woman was guilty as charged; the only reason
her accusers fled was because they had been made aware of their own sinfulness
when Jesus said, "If anyone of you is without sin, let him cast the first
stone." If Jesus had not intervened she would have been dead meat, but the
most remarkable thing was the fact that Jesus was without sin, therefore
he could have cast the first stone, after all, these men were telling the
truth, under Old Testament law the penalty for adultery was death by stoning,
but he chose not to. Instead he said "Go your way, sin no more." O what
love. Can you imagine haw that woman felt? Given a second chance by the
Lord him self. Glory to God. Love is the most important thing in the gospel.
The teaching on love in the bible is that powerful that it is almost too
good to be true. Praise God it is true! On one particular occasion in the
bible some Pharisees approached Jesus and asked him questions in order to
catch him out.
Matthew 22 v 36-40 "Master, which is the greatest commandment
in the Law?" Jesus said unto them, "Thou shall love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the
first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shall
love thy neighbor as thy self. On these two commandments hang all the Law
and the prophets."
In order to fully appreciate the impact these words
of Jesus would have had on these people it is important to know where they
were coming from. These men were lovers of the law they knew it inside out.
When Jesus said, "love the lord your God" they would have been able to handle
it fine. When Jesus said " second, love thy neighbor" they would have been
able to handle that also, but when Jesus said "On these two commandments
hang all the Law and the prophets" that would have blown there minds, because
he is saying that love is more important than the law and prophets, which
was what they were really worshiping. Its powerful stuff folks. Can I encourage
you to read (1 Corinthians 13) which is all about Love. Love is such an
important subject in the word of god that we shall study more on this at
a later date, but for now I would like to finish with a verse out of 1 Corinthians
13.
1 Corinthians 13 v 13 "Now these three remain, faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love."
Love in the Lord, Kev.
