Title:  This is God's will for you! (By Mr Don Argent) All scriptures K.J.V.
 by Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor's Bible Study God bless all of you.

This week my trusted friend and church elder Mr Don Argent has given us a teaching which the Lord has put on his heart, so the rest of this article is written by Don. I pray the Lord speaks to you as you read through it.

What is God’s will for me? How many times have you asked this question, how often have you heard others say, “If only I knew the will of God for my life.” May I suggest that Gods will is the same for all, and what’s more, it is easily known. Let me give some things that are indisputably God’s will for you. There is only one command that God says is first, greater, and more pre-eminent than any other. I dare to state, that if you are not obedient to this command you cannot, will not fulfil any part of his will for you. Here is the scripture, the word of God to prove the statement.

Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, this is the first and great commandment.” (See also Mark 12: 29-30. Luke10:27, Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Deuteronomy 10:12, Deuteronomy 30:6)

Love to God must come from 1, the heart, all inward affections. 2, the soul, all consciousness. 3, the mind, all thoughts. This commandment is the sum of all divine revelation and responsibility. This commandment is the main thing. Always keep the main thing the ‘main thing.’ If the desire of your heart is to do his will, here is the starting point. To love him you must know him. Paul said in Philippians 3:10 “That I may know him (Jesus) and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” Jesus said in john 17:3 “This is life eternal, that they (you and I) might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.” Here we find that Gods will for us I to know him, his will for us is to have eternal life through knowing him (the father) through Jesus his son, for no one can come to the father but by Christ Jesus. Here is Gods will for you, John 6:39-40 “This is the fathers will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the son and believe on him, may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day.” Let me give you one more example of the will of God for you. 1 Thessalonians 5v 16-18 “Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Please note that ‘The will of God’ always involves Jesus Christ, for we cannot know the will of God separate from Jesus. We cannot fulfil the will of God separate from Jesus. We have looked at just a few scriptures that show the will of God for every believer. You need only to look into the word of God to find the fullness of his will. Knowing his will requires action on our part, it’s called obedience.

John 4 v 34 Jesus said “my meat (my sustenance) is to do the will of him that sent me, and He did the will of God, for we read in john 17 v 4 “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” In John 19 v 30 Jesus said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his and gave up the ghost. Let me give you another scripture, I really will try to make this the last.

Philippians 2 v 5-8 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Here we have Jesus being obedient to the first and greatest commandment, and in doing so, showing the ultimate expression of His love for his father (God)., as in Leviticus 1 v 9 a sweet savour to God, Amen. Gods will for you is that you worship him in spirit and in truth (john 4 v 23-24) a sweet savour to God, father, son and Holy Ghost. I hope these brief thoughts will help you to see Gods will for your life, it is all there in Gods word, just ask God the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth and he will because Jesus said, “When the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth.” (John 16 v 13) May I leave with one more thing, many years ago a lady named, ‘Margaret Morgan’ serving lepers in the mission field, became over whelmed with the pressure of work, crying out to God for help. She received this answer from the Holy spirit and I believe this is for all who name Jesus as Lord and saviour, all who seek to do his will.

My child, I desire your love more than anything else that you can give me. Not your service, not you’re struggling and trying to please me or to please others. I want you to love me, to love me with all your heart, soul mind and strength. This is the first commandment and matters more than all else beside. I need your love, fellowship, devotion and worship. I want you to be single minded in this one thing. My spirit is within you to enable you, to empower you to fill your heart with love. I desire this not sometimes, but always. Not part of the day, but all the day. I’m more concerned with your love for me than what you do for me, or do not do. Remember my words to Peter, Do you love me, do you love me more than these? My child, take great care that nothing keeps you from the one thing that is needful. Remember Mary? She chose to sit at my feet to listen to what I had to say, to learn from me, nothing deflected her from this, not the disapproval of another, nor the pressure of work to be done. She knew what should have priority. She knew what was most needful. My child, take great care, do not be like Martha, distracted by much serving. Cut off from me by activity. Loving me, yes but seeking to communicate that love in a wrong way. My child, come and sit at my feet, be still and listed to my voice, then afterwards serve. As I direct, as I decide.

This is the will of God for you.

May God richly bless this word to your spirits, much love to you in Christ Jesus, Mr Don Argent.
