This site and the privilege of sharing the word on the net
is a major blessing to me especially when you consider that only a year
ago I had never used a pc. But I have been obedient to the Lord, and been
taught, and now have this blessing bestowed upon me . Thank you Lord.

God bless all of you.
This week we will be tackling the subject of “Smoking
and Christians.” The question a lot of Christians ask is “is it ok to carry
on smoking now that I am a Christian”? Well the answer in short is no, it’s
not ok to smoke. It does not say in the bible “thou shalt not smoketh” but
it does teach us that this sort of thing is not for us. It doesn’t matter
if you are a Christian or not, Smoking is a killer!
1 Corinthians 3 v
16-17 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s
spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him;
for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.”
The last thing I
want to do is to try and frighten anyone into giving up smoking, although
I do admit I am against smoking in the name of Jesus. If you are a smoker
please read on, and remember I was a smoker until The Lord gave me the strength
to quit. The Lord is on your side. Before we go any further we need to understand
that smoking is not part of God’s perfect plan for our lives. How do you
know that? I hear some of you say. Well let’s see what the bible says.
Jeremiah 29 v 11 “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and
a future.”
Last year I was told the sad news that a close relative had
been diagnosed as having lung cancer, as if that isn’t bad enough this person
does not know Jesus as Lord and saviour. I have to admit that I didn’t know
much about this illness, so I spent some time on the Internet and found
out some facts, which I will now shear with you. 95% of all lung cancer
patients are smokers. Lung cancer is usually fatal, only about 13% of patients
survive five years after diagnoses. Lung cancer is the second biggest killer
of males in the u.k. With heart disease being the number one killer, and
one of the major causes of heart disease is smoking. Does this sound like
God’s plans to prosper you? I don’t think so! If you are a smoker and you
want to stop, the Lord will help you and you will stop. When I was a smoker
I had been trying to give up for ten years but failed. When I became a Christian,
within a few months the Lord was starting to convict me that smoking was
wrong, and that I needed to stop. On the night I quit I had some tobacco
in my hand and I heard the Lord say to me that if I threw it in the waste
paper bin he would do the rest. I heard, I believed, I acted and I quit
by the power of the Lord there and then with no withdrawal effects or cravings.
My brothers and sisters, what he did for me he will do for you. If you want
to quit then please pray this prayer below.
“Father I come to you in the
precious name of Jesus, and I ask you to forgive me for smoking. I ask you
to repair any damage to my body as a result of smoking. I agree to stop
smoking straight away, and I ask you to help me to remain loyal to this
commitment. All to your glory Lord, Amen.”
If you have just prayed that
prayer, bless you in the name of Jesus. You are now an EX smoker. I will
leave you with one scripture.
1 John 1 v 9 “If we confess our sins, He
is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleans us from all
unrighteousness.” May God’s love melt your heart.
Love, kev!
